June Gershwin

June Gershwin
What to sing at a county show?

I’m singing at the Lincolnshire Show on the 22nd and 23rd of june (with school) and i’m not sure what pieces to do. I have quite a high voice and I mainly sing in a classical style as that’s how i’ve been trained but i’m open to anything! I’m hoping to be doing about 6 and they would probably need to be piano backed….
So far i’ve decided on –
Summertime (by Gershwin)
Memory (from Cats)
True Colours (the eva cassidy version – however, i cant find piano music for this)
and possibly:
Maybe This Time from Cabaret….

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!
Plus, if possible, where to find the sheet music for it

:D

“Maybe This Time” from Cabaret..

Somewhere over the Rainbow: The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals

$12.94

The “Golden Age” referred to here spans The Jazz Singer and the advent of the talkies to the death throes of the old studio system in the 1960s. So vast was the era’s musical landscape that even this 42-track, double-disc anthology can’t encompass all its peaks. Not surprisingly, the bulk of this collection originated with the Tiffany’s of the screen musical, M-G-M, a body of work whose riches her…

Masterworks Heritage Edition – Gershwin: Porgy & Bess

$23.98

Columbia’s 1951 Porgy and Bess set new standards for recorded opera during the LP era’s teething stage. Choral, solo, and orchestral forces emerge with three-dimensional clarity that brings you closer to the characters and the story. Sound effects also help, but the rattling dice overstay their welcome. The superb cast not only sings with warmth and flair, but also relishes their words to the poin…

This majestic reference fully chronicles the shows, songs, and careers of all the major composers of the American musical theater, from Jerome Kern’s earliest interpolations to the latest hits on Broadway. Gershwin, Rodgers, Porter, Berlin, Bernstein, Laser, Sondheim, Kander, Finn, Flaherty, and more — this book covers their works, their innovations, their successes, and their failures. Show Tunes is simply the most comprehensive volume of its kind ever produced, and this newly revised and updated edition rites and discusses no fewer than 900 shows and almost 8,000 show tunes. The book has been called a concise skeleton key to the Broadway musical (Variety) and a ground-breaking reference work with a difference (Show Music) — or, as the Washington Post once observed, It makes you sing and dance all over your memory. This eagerly anticipated third edition of Suskin’s thorough volume, updated from June 1991 to March 1999, will appear to all enthusiasts of the American musical: performers, professionals, students, collectors, and fans.
